Over the years, we at Hummel Tree have constantly encountered the same problem; people expect too much from their trees. For instance, if a newborn child was left alone while his parents enjoyed an 18 year vacation, they wouldn't return expecting to find a well rounded adult waiting to be accepted into medical school. Why then do we plant saplings and expect them to grow into safe, trouble free shade trees? Now of course we're not suggesting that your trees need the same amount of nurturing as your children, but there is something to say for timely structural corrections and proper pruning techniques. These things combined will help ensure strong safe shelter that can be enjoyed by many generations.
If you practice proper tree maintenance you may never need to have a tree removed, but if you do, we definitely have you covered. We know that grinding stumps doesn't require the most skill and education, but at Hummel Tree, we believe in convenience for the customer. That is why we offer a complete stump removal package. After the stump is ground, we will haul off stump grindings, bring in top soil, and put down grass seed. It isn't the most exciting part of the job, but by taking the extra step, the customer doesn't have to.
Selling firewood Is very labor intensive, but at Hummel Tree we believe it is important to reuse the trees that no longer have a place in the urban setting. This makes sense economically and environmentally. Processing logs into firewood is a longer procedure than most realize. If we are performing a removal, the wood from the removal is taken away in log form. This cuts down on time and sawdust in the client's yard. The wood is then hauled to our lot, cut to approx. 18”, split, and stacked on caged pallets. It is then seasoned for at least 8 months. This forces us to stock up a year in advance. It ‘s not the simplest process, but we believe our customers will appreciate the difference. Hummel Tree recommends Oak, Ash, and Hackberry for customers with fireplaces. These woods rank well on the B.T.U. charts and lack the dangerous sparks that other dense woods such as Osage Orange, Locust, and Mulberry can Call early to place your order and let Hummel Tree do the rest.
